William gave up farming in Washington Township, Illinois and bought a 6-flat on Minerva Ave. in Chicago between 1910-1916.

Henry (William and Sophia’s son) and his wife Kittie lived in one of the apartments after their marriage (1916) until Kittie got tired of Sophia being so close and insisted they get their own house.
