The Beecher Mausoleum Board is looking for
2020 Current jobs for bid include:
Front Stoop and sidewalk replacement :
The front stoop by the front doors was cracked & pitched back towards the doors, which caused the melting snow in the spring to run inside and flood the main chapel area. In 2015 we were able to break up the surface and reset the threshold, But the remainder of the concrete needs to be removed and re-poured without damaging the attached foundation. The stoop measures: 7 FT wide x 10 FT deep
The sidewalk measures: 9 FT wide x 30 FT long , there is a about 10 feet of original concrete under part of the pavement.
We would also like a bump out section for the concrete bench to sit on, on the east side of the sidewalk. The sidewalk is to stop short of the gravel driveway @ 10 feet, or enough space for a car or light truck to park on the grass in front of the sidewalk.
Two pieces in the center chapel were taken down and need to be put back up with the pin & mortar.
One piece that framed the east widow was also taken down to prevent damage when the glass block windows were installed and needs to be put back with pin & mortar.
one panel behind the door was broken and needs to be replaced with new marble
With all the damage the vandals did to the old marble and the fact that we will never be able to completely match the 100 year old marble in color, we are currently trying to re-locate some of the old marble pieces from the rear compartment to other places so that when we do buy the new marble we will try to replace a single section so the color differences are not so noticeable. We have already taken down several panels in the Horn compartment to be moved and re-installed where needed
window and center chapel panels waiting for install
one headstone (center) to re-install in the Thielman compartment
We will need to purchase @ 2 full slabs of new marble and have it cut for the final remaining pieces that were destroyed and install in the rear wall of the Horn compartment. We estimate we need approx. 20 head stones & side panels and 24 support bands are needed.
Two sections of scaffolding are already on site along with a generator. There also is a well pump in front of the mausoleum for a water source.
ROOF DRAIN SCUPPER
One last roof drain scupper also needs to be replaced. Gallo & Van Etten of Chicago cut the other 3 scuppers that Berglund Construction installed in 2014, but the last one, the east front appears to be in trouble and not draining properly. After the sidewalk & marble projects are finished, we would like to have it replaced with a new one also.
We are looking for honest, quality contractors to help us with the last couple projects to complete the mausoleum restoration.
If you have the ability and skill to work on any of the above projects please contact Sandra Lee Thielman 815-788-9710 8am-5pm, or 815-728-8318 nights & week-ends, or 815-382-7703 cell phone, or you can E-mail to: Sandra@beechermausoluem.org
We hope you can & will help with the final restoration of the Beecher Mausoleum, We look forward to talking with you.
